Figure 16 Arkona’s Public School was located west of its successor structure essentially in what is now the paved parking lot. The original two-storey section was built in 1871 with the one-storey annex being added in 1876. The building replaced the old “Red School” and it would serve the community until it was replaced by the “new” school in 1962 at which point the 1870s structure was torn down.
