Further East Along Townsend Line (formerly King Street). Jaynes Memorial Hall was built by public prescription and the sponsorship of the Women’s Institute on the south side of Townsend Line two lots west of Richmond Street in memory of the late Joseph and Margaret (Eastman) Jaynes who had operated a carpentry shop on the location. The new building served as both a community hall, meeting space, and the home of the public library starting in 1933. The structure was torn down in 2003. Figure 10 Jaynes’ Memorial Hall.
